English for Academic Purposes

English for Academic Purposes Courses fulfil English language proficiency requirements. Courses focus on speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in a university level. Students are prepared for degree level study at UK universities by becoming familiar with the academic environment and conventions of the British Higher Education system listening to academic lectures, taking effective notes, reading academic texts quickly and effectively, expressing ideas clearly and accurately in academic writing giving oral presentations.

All courses are taught through classes and lectures within the College. Students have weekly individual tutorials (one-to-one sessions with their Personal Tutor) to discuss their academic progress. The course is designed around learners' specific needs and is delivered through a flexible combination of face-to-face learning. The focus during the course is on learner support, helping them to cope effectively with academic English.

Students will be assessed regularly on all EAP courses. Language, essays, oral presentations, reading, writing, listening, speaking and IELTS mock tests will form part of the assessment criteria.
